Rhinoplasty, which comes first in the world in terms of prevalence, is an operation that requires experience and competence. Rhinoplasty surgery, which is one of the operations that have the most share of medical developments, is basically performed with two different techniques, open and closed, but it is a procedure in which more than one method is used as sub-segments of these techniques.

In rhinoplasty operations performed with open technique, a small incision is made on the lower part of the nose. The nasal skin is completely removed and bone and cartilage tissue is revealed, then the bone and cartilage tissue is reshaped as planned. The biggest advantage of rhinoplasty performed with open technique is that it provides the surgeon with a clear view of the area to apply the procedure. In the operation, after the bone and cartilage tissue is reshaped, the nasal skin is closed again and a small suture is placed on the lower part of the nose. With the right planning, this stitch scar can be hidden very well and a scar-free appearance can be obtained.

No incision is made on the lower part of the nose in rhinoplasty surgery performed with closed technique. The intervention is performed in the nostrils. Although the surgeon’s angle of view is more limited in this technique compared to the open technique, progress is made in closed technical operations every day and a comfortable and effective surgical process is achieved thanks to the developing modern medical technologies.

One of the most common methods you will hear about rhinoplasty is piezo surgery. Although this technique is one of the latest developments in rhinoplasty, it has an important place in nasal aesthetic surgery as it provides the chance to intervene without breaking the bone tissue of the nose. Piezo surgery, which allows the bone tissue to be shaped without breaking and vibrating with sound waves, is often preferred because it minimizes bruising and swelling, especially in the postoperative period.

The nose, which is one of the first places that draws attention in the facial area, needs very good planning in any intervention. Many different changes can be made in the nose with nasal aesthetic surgeries. If the nose is smaller than the face, it can be enlarged and proportional to the face, if it is large for the face, it can be reduced, if there is an arched appearance, the arched appearance can be corrected, the nasal wings can be intervened, the asymmetry in the nostrils can be removed, and if there is any curvature at the tip of the nose, the tip of the nose can be lifted.

Regardless of whether it is a closed or open technique, all nasal aesthetic surgeries are performed under general anesthesia for the comfort of the patient. Although the duration of the operation varies according to the detail of the procedure to be performed, nasal aesthetic surgeries are the operaitons that take 2-3 hours on average. Although the patient’s stay in the hospital for one day after the operation is important for his comfort, if there is a minor intervention, the patient can be discharged from the hospital on the same day. A special splint is attached to the nose after the surgery. This apparatus is removed after an average of 4 to 6 days postoperatively.

Although it is a short and comfortable procedure, the final shape of the nose after rhinoplasty surgery can vary between 6 months and 1 year.
